Right to the earth
We grow new models of action
The earth rules our lives, the life we have together. The earth is the source of our food, shelter, wealth and social identity.
The earth has always been an asset that has been pilfered to determine private interests: it represents the tragedy of the commons, always poised between belonging to everyone or just a favoured few. The earth represents cultural identity, political power and involvement. Thus the first right that must be ensured in order to give shape to the very real chance of having an existence worth living is the right to the earth, in all its forms.
The earth ensures life by regenerating the products that are our food. An earth that is not free produces food that is not free. What mankind needs instead is real, delicious food that is not alienated, which is the result of a recognised and recognisable supply chain, as well as of the expert hands that grew it and artisans who have a name.
Because food is first and foremost a relationship.
The Diritti alla terra (Right to the heart) project grew out of these considerations: a series of events of differing lengths and types, aiming to bring us closer to the earth, to help us to recover its meaning and to promote fair and achievable change.
